Module 3

In this activity I explored different ways to make data portraits to show my personal data in unique ways.

Activity 1

Using the TED tutorial I added 19 dots to indicate my age and 2 yellow lines to indicate that I was born in and live in North America I added a filled in red triangle to show that I usually view life through a glass half full lens. I then drew a black semi circle to represent the fact that I am more of a night owl. On this part I added a line and 11 black lines on that to show I usually sleep at 11pm and 7 yellow lines to show I usually wake up at 7am. The blue circle means I sing in the shower and the bracket shape with the comma shape indicates that I love both cats and dogs. I have 3 pink dots inside those shapes to show that I have owned 3 pets in my life. The yellow triangle on the top right means I am an IPhone user and the line closer to the top means I usually sleep with my phone about an armlength away. I made a zigzag pattern with pen to show that I have a preference towards pens and the red moon indicates that I am more of an extrovert. The gray scribble behind the red moon shows that I usually like to spend my weekends relaxing and the vertical lines on the left of the page is how many friends I would want to take on vacation with me. The black lines along the red triange show that if I found $100 on the ground I would probably save it. This is all of the icon elements I described before put together in photoshop. First attempt at putting my icon into p5. The sizing was incorrect, it was way too large. I resized my icon but something still wasn't right because none of the icon elements were in the right place. Another angle from my icon when the elements were out of place. I turned my head all the way left to get this angle of the icon. This was the icon from the tutorial. I played around with it a little bit as well. This is a legend I created based on my own personal data. It takes inspiration from earlier exploration but is purely based on data and visuals created by me and my group members This is the visual composition I created based on my personal data. The raindrop shows that I was born in the Spring. The heart shows I think more with my heart. The four lines shows I would take a cat with me on a stranded island. The pink and blue background show that my love language is words of affirmation and physical touch. The squiggly line shows that I have an anxious attachment style. The blue triangle shows I would want my wedding ring to be yellow gold. And the number 22 shows that my biggest fear is failure.

Project 3

Final Project 3 Design

This is my final 3D printed selfie image. It shows an indistinct blocky figure of my twin sister. You can't really tell if it is me or her and this is done intentionally. This abstraction highlights that while we share similar appearances, our identities are shaped by our unique experiences and choices. My kickboxing glove and Stelco lock both highlight important experiences in my life which have shaped and represent parts of who I am.
